VALORANT: Patch 10.04 Introduces New Thai Duelist and Significant Agent Changes

The highly anticipated VALORANT Patch 10.04 is about to drop, bringing a series of changes that promise to transform the gaming experience. The biggest highlight is the introduction of the new Thai duelist agent, Waylay, who will join the roster as the 28th playable character.

The update arrives this Wednesday (March 5th) with the launch of Act 2 of Episode V25

Waylay: The New Thai Duelist

Designed as an alternative to mobility agents like Raze and Jett, Waylay offers players a unique way to enter engagements thanks to her double dash ability. Additionally, she features a special ability called "Refract," which allows her to return to a preset point while remaining invulnerable throughout the action's duration.

With Waylay's arrival, the duelist category now boasts 7 agents, making it the most numerous role among the four available in the game. The new agent will be available starting at 9 AM PT on March 5th, coinciding with the launch of Act 2.

Existing Agent Adjustments

The patch also brings significant adjustments to several agents:

Clove

  • Meddle: Behavior changed, now explodes after contact with the ground after a 0.75s timer (previously exploded after 1.3s).
  • Ruse: Cooldown increased from 30s to 40s.
  • Pick Me Up: Health buff duration increased from 8s to 10s, but movement speed duration reduced from 8s to 3s.

Deadlock

  • Barrier Mesh: Transformed into a non-signature ability, with cost increased from free to 400 credits.
  • GravNet: Transformed into a signature ability, with cost reduced from 200 credits to free. Total size reduced from 16m to 13m.

Iso

  • Undercut: Charges reduced from 2 to 1, cost increased from 200 to 300 credits. Now applies suppression alongside vulnerability.
  • Contingency: New ALT-Fire function added that allows the wall to move at half speed.
  • Double Tap: Iso will now receive a Heavy Penetration tag rather than Wall Penetration tag when shield is broken.

Neon and Tejo

  • Overdrive (Neon): VFX update during duration for better directionality when fighting.
  • Guided Salvo (Tejo): Damage reduced from 70 to 65, and damage to non-player objects reduced to 50%.

Map Rotation and Changes

Ascent and Icebox return to the competitive and deathmatch rotation, while Abyss and Bind are temporarily removed. Additionally, the Ascent map received an important change to the B site, where a portion of the B Main wall is now non-penetrable by projectiles, offering greater safety to attackers.

Console Updates

The patch also brings specific adjustments to the console version of the game, including changes for Neon and Yoru:

  • Neon: Head damage multiplier increased to 3 (Overdrive) and fuel drain reduced during Sprint.
  • Yoru: Improvements to Dimensional Drift and flash abilities.
  • Reyna: Leer health increased from 40hp to 100hp.

Players can expect these changes starting this Wednesday when Patch 10.04 launches at 9 AM PT.
